The inventor of the Esperanto language is Ludwik Zamenhof was born in Bia\u0142ystok. On December 15 we celebrate\u00a0 the 163rd<\/sup>\u00a0 anniversary of his birthday. <\/span><\/p>\n

Zamenhof was born in 1859 to a Jewish family and believed that a common language would allow people to understand each other better, despite differences of origin and culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

He made various attempts to create a universal language, whose complete grammatical system he described in 1887. He was called “Doktor Esperanto” – a doctor who believed. <\/span><\/p>\n

This nickname over time turned into the name of the language he created.<\/span><\/p>\n

Zamenhof believed that the universal language would live and flourish to eventually become the language of all nations. Currently, it is estimated that Esperanto is spoken by around <\/span><\/p>\n

2 million people worldwide.<\/span><\/p>\n
