The film “Erase the Nation” dir. Tomasz Grzywaczewski<\/em> is a documentary showing the destruction of the cultural <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

heritage of Ukraine by the army of the Russian Federation from February 24, 2022<\/strong>. The production shows the deliberate <\/span><\/p>\n

destruction of Ukrainian monuments from Lviv, through Czernich\u00f3w, Ivankiv, Kiev, Kharkiv, to Izium and Bohorodiczne in eastern Ukraine. <\/span><\/p>\n

Crimes committed against secular and sacred cultural heritage, from archaeological sites to modern libraries and schools. Statements by <\/span><\/p>\n

Ukrainian representatives of the world of culture show a picture of the barbarian invader’s deliberate struggle with Ukrainian identity, a <\/span><\/p>\n

fight for which Ukrainian heroes give their lives.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the territory of Ukraine before the war there were over 5 thousand. museums, 65 historical and cultural reserves and approx. 170,000 <\/span><\/p>\n

monuments, including seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. During the ten months of the war, the Ministry of Culture and Information <\/span><\/p>\n

Policy of Ukraine recorded more than 800 cases of damage done by Russian troops to the cultural heritage of Ukraine. This number is <\/span><\/p>\n

growing every day, and it still does not cover all areas and damage.<\/span><\/p>\n

Attacks on objects of cultural heritage or looting of Ukrainian museum collections are violations of international law. Now, as never <\/span><\/p>\n

before, Ukrainians and cultural heritage located in Ukraine need support and help from the entire community of the world. The film is to <\/span><\/p>\n

be a message addressed to the organization and the international community, to show the scale and ruthlessness of the destruction that <\/span><\/p>\n

is being done there.<\/span><\/p>\n

The documentary was commissioned by the National Heritage Institute of Poland and financed by the Ministry of Culture and <\/span><\/p>\n
