The lecture will focus on the history of the Jewish community in Che\u0142m before World War II.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"622\" data-end=\"943\">The lecture will explore the prewar history of the Jewish community in Che\u0142m, its fate during the war, and the extensive efforts to preserve the memory and heritage of this community. He is a historian specializing in the Holocaust and Polish-Jewish relations during World War II. In addition to his academic work, he is also a passionate painter and graphic artist.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1740\" data-end=\"1914\"><em>The idea of painting Jews of Che\u0142m<\/em> \u2013 according to Pu\u0142awski \u2013 \u201c<em>emerged while going through documents from the interwar period, which preserved photographs of Jews from Che\u0142m<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1916\" data-end=\"2273\">The exhibition presents 24 portraits of Jews who lived in Che\u0142m before the Holocaust \u2013 two for each individual. The subjects include significant figures in the community&#8217;s social and political life at the time, such as Anshel Biderman, head of the Jewish community in Che\u0142m; Mordechai Ivri, a city council member and political figure; and violinist Ida Haendel.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2275\" data-end=\"2565\">The portraits are created using traditional techniques enriched with elements of modern art, as part of a project aimed at restoring the memory of Che\u0142m\u2019s Jewish community.
