Just before the outbreak of World War II, he embarked on a heroic journey across Europe to rescue works of art from destruction and transport them safely to Tel Aviv. Among the saved paintings were works by outstanding Polish-Jewish artists such as Maurycy and Leopold Gottlieb, Mo\u00efse Kisling, and Maurycy Minkowski.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"661\" data-end=\"880\">A few weeks after the exhibition opened, reality once again reminded us of the need to protect artworks from danger. Currently, the paintings from the exhibition are stored in the museum\u2019s vaults, awaiting calmer times.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"882\" data-end=\"1292\">In these difficult days, we invite you to a special meeting in the \u201cSalon Polin\u201d series with Noy Rosenberg, curator of <em data-start=\"1001\" data-end=\"1015\">\u201cYear Zero.\u201d<\/em> Together, we will delve into the story of Dr. Karl Schwarz, who laid the foundations of the modernist art collection at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art.
