According to tradition, the fearsome dragon lived in a cave beneath Wawel Castle in Cracow, terrorizing the city\u2019s inhabitants and demanding regular sacrifices. Attempts by the king\u2019s knights to defeat it repeatedly failed, until a clever cobbler came up with a cunning trick and managed to defeat the dragon \u2014 not by force, but through ingenuity.
