{"id":1426,"date":"2020-08-31T11:38:31","date_gmt":"2020-08-31T09:38:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/instytutpolski.pl\/vilnius\/?p=1426"},"modified":"2026-02-12T12:26:11","modified_gmt":"2026-02-12T11:26:11","slug":"solidarumo-40-metis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/instytutpolski.pl\/vilnius\/2020\/08\/31\/solidarumo-40-metis\/","title":{"rendered":"Solidarumo 40-metis"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the signing of the August Agreements and the establishment of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union \u201cSolidarity\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>On 31 August, we solemnly celebrate the 40th anniversary of the signing of the August Agreements and the establishment of the Independent Self-Governing Trade Union \u201cSolidarity\u201d, which contributed to the collapse of communism and an end to the world\u2019s cold war division.\u00a0\u00a0<br \/><\/strong>This would not have happened without the involvement of millions of Poles who dared to resist the injustice prevailing in their enslaved country and established \u201cSolidarity\u201d. This mass civic movement, through which Poles decided to express their views and take responsibility for the fate of the country, had no match in Europe.<br \/>The \u201cgene of solidarity\u201d still makes Poland commit itself to helping other countries in need. Solidarity takes the form of development and humanitarian aid (recently during the COVID-19 pandemic), supporting other countries in transition, particularly those in the Eastern Partnership and the Western Balkans, but also taking part in the peacekeeping and military missions of the EU, the OSCE, NATO, and other international organisations.
