Żanna Słoniowska at the 5th edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival Of Letters
The 5th edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival Of Letters February 2024 in Thiruvananthapuram, hosted over 300 international and Indian writers and speakers, including Polish-Ukrainian novelist Żanna Słoniowska. This year the theme was Exploring Plurality.
In panel “War and Writing” Żanna shared her thoughts on daily struggles of the artists living under threat because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The readers could have a glimpse of every day horrific experience of war and hear how devastating living under the bombs is, from perspective of the artist. She stated also that being creative during the war is a beautiful example of resilience of the nation. At her second panel “Ukrainian Realities” she spoke about her novels in reference to Polish and Ukrainian history.
