Monika Kowaleczko- Szumowska at the Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2024

Monika Kowaleczko- Szumowska, executive producer and co-author of the script of an interactive documentary, “Maharaja’s Children. Brave Bunch in India,”  was invited to take part in the literary session entitled “Maharaja’s Refuge: The Story of Hope During WWII” at the Ahmedabad International Book Festival 2024.

The panel moderated by Shradha Ahuja Ramani took place on 2nd December 2024. Monika Kowaleczko- Szumowska was one of the speakers alongside Jaidevsinhji Jadeja and Shania Sarup, author of “Burial of Hearts” by Rupa Publications. 

Jaidevsinhji Jadeja shared stories he heard directly from his paternal uncle, Maharaja Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji. He spoke about how this act of compassion impacted the royal family of Jamnagar and became a part of the family’s legacy.

Shania Sarup’s exploration of the story of Polish children saved from the hell of World War II by Maharaja Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji, through her writing proves its relevance for audiences of all ages.
