On 10 September, the grand opening of the “Sacred Art Space” exhibition took place at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath gallery in Bangalore, marking a significant cultural milestone in Indo-Polish artistic collaboration. The exhibition brings together the creative visions of 80 artists from Poland and India, showcasing a diverse and thought-provoking range of artworks.
The opening ceremony was attended by esteemed guests of honour: Dr B.L. Shankar, President of Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath; Mr Raghu Rajappa, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland in Bangalore, and Ms Małgorzata Wejsis-Gołębiak, Director of the Polish Institute in New Delhi.
The exhibition features works such as paintings, drawings, traditional and digital graphics, sculptures, designs and new media: performance, film, photography and art installations.
The exhibition is the result of an artistic, scientific and educational exchange initiated in 2018 by the cooperation between Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, specifically the Faculty of Interior Design.
The “Sacred Art Space” is curated by Dr Anna Krzemińska (Poland), representing the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Prof. Tejendra Singh Baoni (India), a respected sculptor and former rector of the College of Fine Arts at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath.
As part of the exhibition’s opening week, attendees had the opportunity to engage in interactive workshops and academic lectures conducted by the visiting faculty from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw like sculpture workshops led by Professor Maciej Aleksandrowicz and drawing and performance workshops led by Konrad Matuszewski.
The “Sacred Art Space” exhibition is open to the public until 22 September 2025 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore.
