SIFFCY Film Festival, Smile foundation initiative took place from 6th to 8th of September 2024 in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The festival powered by Polish Institute, was organised in partnership with EU in India.
At the festival several handpicked award winning films made for young audience from Poland, Ukraine, Italy, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, France and Luxembourg were shown with Poland and Ukraine as Countries of Focus.
The opening ceremony took place on 6th September at the D.A.V. Public School, Chandrasekharpu with performances by the students of the school. Magdalena Filipczuk, Acting Director of the Polish Institute as a Guest of Honor delivered a short speech. The festival began with the screening of Polish film “Lampo, the Travelling Dog” directed by Magdalena Niec. It is a heart warming family film stars Lampo, an incredible travelling dog, who becomes best friend with Zuza, an eleven-year-old facing a heart condition. Lampo helps Zuza overcome fears and find hope.
Also at the festival a classic collection of Polish animation films’ curated specially by the TV Studio Filmów Animowanych, Poznań was shown.
SIFFCY Film Festival met with immense response from the audience and media.
