Emilia Raiter and Jerzyk Szufa will perform at Kathakar International Storytellers Festival in Delhi
The 12th edition of India’s first and only international storytelling festival showcases the best forms of storytelling from United Kingdom, Australia, Poland and India. This year actor Manoj Bajpayee and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali will turn storytellers for the audience along with festival patron singer-songwriter-composer Mohit Chauhan.
The festival will have many firsts, Buddhist chanting by Grammy awardee monks from Sherbaling. Renowned harpist and storyteller Emilia Raiter from Poland. Aboriginal Elder Uncle Larry Walsh will be accompanied by well known didgeridoo player Ron Murray to share Australian stories from the Dreamtime traditions. Danish Husain will be back with his multilingual storytelling project – Qissebazi with a set of new Haryanvi folktales performed by Rashmi Mann & Ruchita Tahiliani. Danish himself will perform in Hindustani.
Sangeet Natak Awardee Tholpavakoothu, the Kerala Shadow puppeteers will perform Ramayan, while Swedish-British artist will perform Kali and tales from the Mahabharat. In addition there would be Vergine Gulbenkian, Jerzy Szufa, Amrita Tripathi and our very own master storyteller Shaguna Gahilote.
The festival will be held at the Sunder Nursery, Delhi’s biggest heritage park. The 16th century park is spread over 90 acres containing 15 heritage monuments of which 6 are UNESCO heritage sites.
