The New York concert by mezzo-soprano Roksana Wardenga and pianist Aleksandra Hałat at Scorca Hall in the America Opera Center on January 5, 2025, is part of the project Jerzy Fitelberg – Rediscovering. The event aims to showcase the extensive vocal works of Polish-Jewish composers whose music reflects influences from French, Polish, and American cultures. The program will feature French-language pieces by J. I. Paderewski, songs by A. Panufnik, and, most notably, the rediscovered 1921 song by Jerzy Fitelberg, composed in Berlin. The project is accompanied by an animation titled Prelude by Kaja Renkas and Iwona Pomianowska, presenting a glimpse into the life of composer Jerzy Fitelberg.
The concert will be preceded by a lecture by Dr. Aleksandra Hałat as part of the PAHA Conference, also taking place in New York. She will discuss the return of Jerzy Fitelberg’s works to Poland after nearly 80 years and her research on the composer’s oeuvre.
