Beijing orchestra led by the Polish conductor performed at Zhongshan Park Concert Hall
More than eight hundred people jointly celebrated on Friday, November 22, the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Poland and the People’s Republic of China.
During a commemorative concert performed by the Beijing Symphony Orchestra led by Rafal Janiak, featuring Maciej Frąckiewicz (accordion), Chinese audiences enjoyed Krzysztof Penderecki’s “Concerto for Accordion” for the first time. The concert took place on the 91st anniversary of the composer’s birth. It is worth noting that Maestro Penderecki, who has been giving regular concerts in China since 1998, has enjoyed great recognition there. His last performances in China, with Anne Sophie-Mutter and Sinfonia Varsovia, took place in 2018.
Concert program also included an orchestration of the Nocturne in C minor, Op. 48 by Fryderyk Chopin, a particularly popular composer in China. The piece, performed especially for the 75th anniversary of Polish-Chinese diplomatic relations, was given thunderous applause. The concert was organized by the Zhongshan Park Concert Hall and the Polish Institute in Beijing, with support from the Fasing Capital Group.
