From February 26 to March 8 this year Mrs. Iwona Chmielewska visited China and took part in a number of events aimed at promoting her work. Polish children’s books are appreciated around the world by readers and the jury of the most important awards in the world of children’s literature. Mrs. Chmielewska’s books are wise and beautifully illustrated, close to a child’s world, which makes them so popular in Poland and abroad.
The tour program included meetings with the author, workshops, discussion panels and interviews with the Chinese media.
Mrs. Iwona also visited the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Beijing and took part in an interview conducted by the director of the Polish Institute in Beijing – Mrs. Marta de Zuniga.
Iwona Chmielewska is one of the most respected illustrators in the world, whose books are also very popular in China. Currently, as many as eighteen of her books have been translated into Chinese, and her work has been very enthusiastically received by critics and readers.
The main organizers of Iwona Chmielewska’s Beijing tour were Guangxi Normal University Press and Jieli Publishing House, with the support of the Book Institute and the Polish Institute in Beijing.
