Chinese gaming media study visit to Poland

A group of Chinese journalists took part in Central and Eastern Europe’s largest gaming trade fair Poznań Game Arena (25.10-27.10.2024).

Chinese representatives from HeyBox, GamerSky, 3DMGAME, VGN and IGN China attended the Central & Eastern European Game Awards gala and the Game Industry Conference (GIC). It was an opportunity to interact with Polish developers and game publishers and to learn about the new games releases. The journalists were astonished by one of the side events – the “world’s most extreme game jam”, taking place on October 27. During this event developers had only 60 minutes to make a game. The event took place in one of Poznań’s trams at 2:00 am and ended at 2:00 am (due to the change to winter time). The participants appreciated an innovative and creative approach to organizing a game jam.

In Warsaw, the Chinese journalists visited the studios of Games Operators, Retrovibe and 11bit studios. The latter received the CODE: THE RIGHTS special award from Amnesty International Polska at this year’s CEEGA gala for the game This War of Mine.

Chinese gamers are an important group of recipients of Polish games. For most games, as much as 30% of the audience are players from China.

The next meeting of Polish and Chinese game developers will take place during the Shanghai WePlay fair on November 16-17, 2024. Stay tuned for further details and follow the Institute’s social media accounts.
