On Polish Language

Prof. Piotr Kłodkowski’s Talk at Delhi University.

On 14th December 2018, noted scholar Prof. Piotr Kłodkowski, also the Former Ambassador of Poland to India, gave a lecture at University of Delhi on the aspect of Polish language as a cultural symbol representing the Polish national identity.

The lecture was organised by the Polish Institute New Delhi together with Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi in collaboration with the Delhi University’s Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrin Studies. The context of this talk being the significance of Polish language at the 100th Anniversary of Poland’s Independence and the completion of five decades of Polish language course at the University of Delhi.

The event was graced by H.E. Adam Burakowski, current Ambassador of Poland to India, who also warmly encouraged the young students to learn foreign languages. The students, too, responded in enthusiasm by holding an interactive discussion with both the current, as well as former Ambassadors in Polish language, thereby displaying not only their spoken-language skills, but also their affection for the said Slavic language.

The finesse of a linguist; Prof. Kłodkowski explains the commonalities between Polish and Hindi languages

Using interesting similies, metaphors, phrases and catchy mnemonic techniques Prof. Kłodkowski expounded the underlying grammatical structure between various Slavic languages. He insisted that by learning one Slavic language for example Polish, students can easily learn other Slavic languages, too. Furthermore the linguist also elucidated the commonalities between Polish, Hindi and English languages.
