The Science Gallery Bengaluru are moving towards opening the doors to the public to experience CARBON.

CARBON is an exhibition season at the Science Gallery newly opened building facility in Sanjaynagar, Bengaluru. The exhibition season will have 30 exhibits and more than 200 programmes, including public lectures and tutorials, masterclasses and workshops, film screenings, events, and performances. Through their exhibition-seasons, and other programmes, they aim to make science, and research accessible to all.

The Polish Institute New Delhi in collaboration with The Science Gallery Bengaluru will be showing an exhibit, educational game titled Carbon Worm by the Instytut B61 represented by Polish artist Jan Świerkowski.

Carbon Worm is an arcade game dealing with issues related to space exploration. The player’s task will be to maintain stability in unique astronomical objects – White Dwarfs, made famous by the discoveries of the Indian Nobel Prize winner and astronomer Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. The game is part of the year-long project of the Instytut B61- the Copernican Principle, part of the celebration of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus, during which arcade games are created based on selected astronomical issues, which are carriers of extremely important problems of a philosophical, ecological and social nature. During the exhibition, the Carbon Worm game will be presented on an attractive retrofuturistic slot machine.

The Instytut B61 is an international artistic and scientific collective founded in Toruń during the UNESCO International Year of Astronomy 2009 by the artist, astronomer and art curator Jan Świerkowski. The group includes scientists, performers, musicians, visual artists, actors, and cultural managers. The group creates immersive site-specific performances and multimedia shows combining art, science and technology.

Inauguration of exhibition-season CARBON at Science Gallery Bengaluru, Sanjaynagar took place on 30th November 2023. Public launch of the Carbon exhibition is planned for January 2024.
