The Polish Institute New Delhi in collaboration with The Science Gallery Bengaluru will be showing an exhibit, educational game titled Carbon Worm by the Instytut B61 represented by Polish artist Jan Świerkowski.
Carbon Worm is an arcade game dealing with issues related to space exploration. The player’s task will be to maintain stability in unique astronomical objects – White Dwarfs, made famous by the discoveries of the Indian Nobel Prize winner and astronomer Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. The game is part of the year-long project of the Instytut B61- the Copernican Principle, part of the celebration of the 550th anniversary of the birth of Nicolaus Copernicus, during which arcade games are created based on selected astronomical issues, which are carriers of extremely important problems of a philosophical, ecological and social nature. During the exhibition, the Carbon Worm game will be presented on an attractive retrofuturistic slot machine.
The Instytut B61 is an international artistic and scientific collective founded in Toruń during the UNESCO International Year of Astronomy 2009 by the artist, astronomer and art curator Jan Świerkowski. The group includes scientists, performers, musicians, visual artists, actors, and cultural managers.
