Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Seong-Jin Cho, First Prize Winner of the Chopin International Piano Competition, performing Piano Concerto No. 1 by Frederyk Chopin and the New York premiere performance of revered Polish composer Mieczyslaw Weinberg‘s Symphony No. 4.

“The Warsaw Philharmonic’s concert at Soka Performing Arts Center on Wednesday night was sensational, a highlight of the year… [The Warsaw Philharmonic] could even make ‘The Stars and Stripes Forever’ sound like a thrilling, freshly minted masterpiece. And it did precisely that with the Sousa favorite at encore time… you are not likely to find Warsaw on any of the 10-best orchestra lists, which thus makes it one of the best-kept secrets in the business.” – Mark Swed, Los Angeles Times, November 8, 2012

“Cho has an envilable ability to make every note sound distinct and clear, shaping and balancing each phrase perfectly… he superbly demonstrated his understanding of Chopin’s stated intent: “calm and meloncholy,” giving the impression of a thousand happy memories. Its a kind of moonlight reverie on a beutiful spring evening. – Backtrack, November 2015

Warsaw Philharmonic, Poland’s national orchestra under the baton of Artistic Director Jacek Kaspszyk, will perform at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center, in New York City on Monday, October 24, 2016 as part of its upcoming 14-city United States coast-to-coast tour.

This performance will be a unique opportunity for New York audiences to witness the U.S. concerto debut of the most recent Chopin International Piano Competition Winner, Seong-Jin Cho.

The Warsaw Philharmonic will also present the New York debut of Mieczyslaw Weinberg’s Symphony No. 4. As one of the 20th Century’s most gifted composers, and one who was later overlooked, Weinberg’s unique musical voice is now being rediscovered, in large part, as a result of the Warsaw Philharmonic’s ongoing recording project featuring his most important work. The concert will also include Brahms’s Tragic Overture

The Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra & Seong-Jin Cho 2016 United States Tour is produced by Columbia Artists Management Inc., with generous support provided by Asiana Airlines. The New York performance is presented in partnership with the Korean Culture Center New York and the Polish Cultural Institute New York.
