As an expression of our shared missions to advance science and collaboration, this year’s concert goal is to help the people of Ukraine. Through “Chopin. The Space Concert,” AFI and MSV are raising awareness and funds to establish a Center of Excellence to train and support Polish and Ukrainian medical specialists in Polytrauma (Traumatic Brain Injury, PTSD, Acute Stress Disorder, Amputations, and other trauma related injuries and systems of care) in Poland.

The Center of Excellence is being developed in collaboration with Baylor College of Medicine, the Medical Society of Virginia and the National Center for PTSD, a program of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

(COLONEL, USMC, RET.) NASA ASTRONAUT. During the STS-130 Endeavour mission, Commander George D. Zamka brought to space a CD with music of Frederic Chopin to commemorate the 200. birth anniversary of the greatest Polish composer.

Passionate about aviation and Space exploration. Autor and producer of many movies and series. Graduated as film director from Lodz Film School in 1986. Traveled to China to become assistant of Bernardo Bertolucci during production of THE LAST EMPEROR in The Forbidden City in Beijing.

Karol Radziwonowicz – a pianist regarded by many critics as “a torchbearer for the Chopin/Paderewski tradition”. Graduate with highest honours by The Fryderyk Chopin National Music Academy in Warsaw, perfected his skills under George Sebok at the Indiana University in Bloomington.
