The Museum of Modern Art and Film at Lincoln Center present The Assistant by Wilhelm Sasnal and Anka Sasnal. Adapted from Robert Walser’s 1908 novel, this visually and sonically opulent film is set against breathtaking pastoral landscapes, featuring lush cinematography, a mesmerizing electronic score, and an impeccable sense of style. The Assistant delves into the timeless themes of servitude, ambition, and human connection, exploring the invisible bonds that shape and constrain us all.

The film will be shown as part of the 54th edition of New Directors/New Films Festival. Presented by The Museum of Modern Art and Film at Lincoln Center, the 54th edition of New Directors/New Films (ND/NF) takes place from April 2 through April 13, 2025. Since 1972, New Directors/New Films has showcased new and emerging filmmakers whose distinctive visions and risk-taking works highlight the vitality and potential of cinema.
