This June, the Choir of Lublin University of Technology will embark on a musical tour in the United States, at the invitation of the Polish community in New Britain, Connecticut. The ensemble will present a series of special concerts celebrating Polish music and culture in communities that warmly embrace and support this rich heritage.
The Academic Choir of Lublin University of Technology was founded in January 1975 at the initiative of the then Vice-Rector, Professor Kazimierz Szabelski. The choir’s first conductor was Tadeusz Chyła. Since 1987, the choir has been led by its current conductor and artistic director, Professor Elżbieta Krzemińska, DSc.
From its inception, the choir has brought together students, alumni, and staff of Lublin University of Technology, as well as members of other Lublin universities. The ensemble’s repertoire includes sacred music, jazz, traditional folk songs from various cultures, and major oratorio works.
The choir has achieved considerable success at prestigious festivals both in Poland and internationally. It has performed in numerous European countries, including Slovakia (Košice, Bratislava), the Netherlands (Enschede), Hungary (Miskolc, Komárno), Spain (Zaragoza, Barcelona, Lloret de Mar, Calella), Germany (Wolfenbüttel, Hanover, Heidelberg, Münster), France (Calais, Marseille), Austria (Vienna), Wales (Carmarthen, Cardiff), the Canary Islands (Las Palmas), and Lithuania—always receiving a warm and enthusiastic welcome from audiences.
The tour is held under the honorary patronage of the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York.
