Broadway Concert Inaugurating the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union
Polish-Brazilian Broadway Star Paulo Szot & The American Pops Orchestra



On January 24, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Washington, D.C., in collaboration with the Polish Cultural Institute New York, hosted a remarkable concert to mark the beginning of Poland’s Presidency in the Council of the European Union. The event featured Paulo Szot, the acclaimed Polish-Brazilian baritone and Tony Award winner, accompanied by the renowned American Pops Orchestra.
Szot captivated the audience with performances of Broadway’s most beloved songs, including selections from the iconic musical South Pacific. Adding a special touch to the evening, he also performed a Polish song by Grzegorz Turnau, showcasing his diverse musical artistry.
The evening commenced with welcoming remarks by distinguished guests, including Mr. Bogdan Klich, Head of Mission in the Embassy of the Republic of Poland; Ambassador of the European Union to the U.S. Jovita Neliupšienė; Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs Sonata Coulter; and Chairman of the Board of the American Pops Orchestra, Robert Pullen.
Held under the honorary patronage of Poland’s Minister of Culture and National Heritage the concert was a spectacular celebration of culture and diplomacy.
