The tasks of the Polish Institute – Cultural Section of the Polish Embassy in Beijing include continuous and active building of a positive image of Poland in China, reaching out with information about Poland to opinion formers and the local public, as well as initiating and supporting bilateral cooperation. Employing public diplomacy tools, the Polish Institute engages in activities presenting particular attractiveness of Polish heritage and tradition, achievements of Polish artists, scientists and activists, as well as the potential of Polish creative industries and their products. The Polish Institute is also involved in the promotion of the Polish language by supporting and developing teaching and research centers. The Cultural Section became an integral part of the Polish Embassy in Beijing as early as in the 1950s. However, its role started increasing only recently due to the substantial development of bilateral relations. Currently, the Polish Institute staff consists of six people.
