“Game developer’s guide to the Chinese market” officially released

The Polish Institute in Beijing and Indie Games Poland Foundation are proud to announce the publication of the “Game developer’s guide to the Chinese market” – a comprehensive and up-to-date source of information for game developers wanting to try their hand at the biggest gaming market in the world.

With almost 670 million players, China attracts the attention of game developers and publishers from all around the globe. However, with limited access to information and expertise, smaller and inexperienced companies might find it difficult to make the best out of the possibilities the market has to offer. For that reason, the Polish Institute in Beijing, in cooperation with the Indie Games Poland Foundation, published the first Chinese Game Market Report in 2018. The report became an invaluable and reliable source of information on the Chinese market for numerous Polish companies.

However, the continuous changes the Polish and Chinese gamedev industries and gaming markets underwent over the course of the past few years, demanded a significant update of the original document, to give Polish institutions and companies an even better understanding of the recent developments.

The 2024 “Game developer’s guide to the Chinese market” is the result of eight years of intensive research and the fruit of cooperation between the Polish Institute in Beijing, Indie Games Poland Foundation and numerous partners from Polish and Chinese gamedev industries. The purpose of the document is to provide Western game developers (especially PC/console game developers) with a reliable and exhaustive source of information about the Chinese gaming market, which would guide and support them through the process of establishing their presence in China.

The authors of the report hope the “Game developer’s guide to the Chinese market” will contribute to your successful expansion to the Chinese gaming market and together with the unceasing efforts by a various institutions, including the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Polish Institute in Beijing, Polish Investment and Trade Agency, Centre for the Development of Creative Industries and the Indie Games Poland Foundation, help build the brand of Poland as a “gaming power” (游戏大国)!
