The 14th edition of the European Union Film Festival Nepal (EUFF Nepal) is being held in Kathmandu from 15–16 November at QFX Chhaya Center and is set to continue in Pokhara from 22–23 November. The festival features 25 films. Among its anticipated titles is The Last Expedition, a 2024 documentary by Polish filmmaker Eliza Kubarska.

The film was screened on 15th November at 2:00 PM drawing an enthusiastic audience and contributing to a vibrant celebration of European cinema.

It’s a gripping film that chronicles the life and mysterious disappearance of legendary Polish mountaineer Wanda Rutkiewicz—the first woman to summit K2 and one of the most iconic figures in Himalayan climbing history. Rutkiewicz vanished on Kangchenjunga in 1992, and her fate remains one of mountaineering’s most haunting mysteries.

Kubarska’s documentary blends Wanda’s own audio diaries with rare archival footage and interviews with some of the world’s most respected climbers, including Reinhold Messner, Krzysztof Wielicki, and Carlos Carsolio. The result is an intimate portrait of a woman who changed the landscape of global mountaineering.
