The Segal Center Film Festival on Theatre and Performance is an annual event showcasing films drawn from the world of theatre and performance. The festival presents experimental, emerging, and established theatre artists and filmmakers from around the world to viewers and industry professionals. The program includes a roster of more than 30 features, shorts, documentaries, advance screenings, and meet-the-artist Q&A sessions with leading international theatre artists from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, The Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Syria, UK, and the US.

The festival will feature videos for Dorota Maslowska’s music project: Mister D., (created by Krzysztof Skonieczny), and Memoir, a”work in progress”by Krzysztof Garbaczewski.

Dorota Maslowska is a Polish novelist, playwright, and most recently a musician. She enjoyed a great deal of success with her first novel, Snow White and Russian Red (Wojna polsko-ruska pod flaga bialo-czerwona). An example of postmodernism meets post-Communism, the book earned immediate acclaim and notoriety, winning the prestigious 2003 Paszport Polityki in literature for “her personal take on Polish reality and creative use of colloquial language.” She received Poland’s highest literary honor, the Nike Prize, in 2006, at the age of 23. Since then, her plays have been staged in New York, Sydney, London, Berlin, Prague, Moscow, Chicago, and throughout Poland.

Krzysztof Garbaczewski is a theatre and film director and set designer known for his elaborate sets and innovative adaptations, crossing the boundaries between theater, film, dance, visual arts, and music. He has a degree in directing from the Ludwik Solski State Drama School in Krakow. His productions have garnered numerous awards at theater festivals in Poland. As an assistant to acclaimed director Krystian Lupa, he worked on productions of Zarathustra (2005) and Factory 2 (2008) in Krakow’s National Stary Theater. Garbaczewski’s work was presented by the PCI in New York in 2011.

Krzysztof Skonieczny,a.k.a. glebokiOFF, is an award-winning Polish actor, independent theatre and film director, scriptwriter, producer, creator of music videos, visual artist, founder of artistic conglomerate glebokiOFF. He has directed and created a variety of projects in the United States, South Africa, South America, Thailand, in Europe and elsewhere.
