Yumi Ito is a Swiss-Polish-Japanese vocalist, songwriter, producer, and arranger. Her music is an amalgam of jazz, art-pop and neo-classical. SWR2 Jazz named her one of the vocal discoveries of 2020, and Jazz thing magazine featured her album “Stardust Crystals” in the TOP 10 of the best releases in 2020.
Raised in Switzerland, the award-winning singer and composer has already made her mark internationally, sharing the stage with artists such as Al Jarreau, Becca Stevens, and Nils Petter Molvaer.
Yumi stylishly navigates her own musical universe, adding a twist to the classic jazz sound, with elements of neoclassical art-pop, free improvisation, and electronica. Her lyrics depict socially realistic everyday events and reflect on society—stories big and small, with something at heart. Enchanted, mysterious song pearls that can be experienced on the Album Release tour where she performs with her two regular musicians, the Spanish “drum poet” Iago Fernández and the Polish bassist Kuba Dworak.
Line up:
Yumi Ito (CH/JP/PL) – Vocals, Piano, Composition
Kuba Dworak (PL/CH) – Double bass
Iago Fernández (ES/CH) – Drums
