Furiozo: Man Looking for Trouble, a solo performance by renowned performer and director Piotr Sikora, will be featured in the 2025 edition of the Rehearsal for Truth theater festival. This internationally acclaimed show has captivated audiences across Europe, Australia, and Asia with its daring blend of physical comedy and expressive, wordless storytelling.

He has won several major comedy awards, including the Comedy Circle award at the Taipei International Comedy Festival. At the Edinburgh Fringe, Piotr was nominated twice for Best Show at the Comedians’ Choice Awards (2023 & 2024) and won The Besties Award by Skinny Magazinefor boldest performance. Furiozo was also featured in the British Comedy Guide’s Best Reviewed Shows list and selected as one of The Guardian’s Best Comedy Shows of 2024. He also won the Weekly Comedy Award at Perth Fringe in 2023, and two Pick of the Week Awards at Adelaide Fringe (203 and 2024).

Furiozo confronts the audience with a portrait of hypermasculinity in crisis. With raw vulnerability and biting irony, Sikora dismantles the archetype of the angry man, using hilarious theatrical bravado toward an intimate act of self-examination.

Furiozo appears alongside an international lineup of provocative performances from Central and Eastern Europe, curated in the spirit of Václav Havel’s legacy. The Rehearsal for Truth festival remains a platform for bold, socially engaged works that question the status quo through innovative theatrical forms.

About Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival

Rehearsal for Truth International Theater Festival, honoring Václav Havel, is a showcase of contemporary European theater organized each year in New York City. Conceived in 2017 as a shared endeavor of the Václav Havel Center (VHC) and Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association (BBLA), the festival honors the legacy of Czech playwright, dissident and political thinker Vaclav Havel.

Each edition of Rehearsal for Truth Theater Festival addresses current sociopolitical trends in Central and Eastern Europe, offering New York audiences a unique opportunity to witness the region’s theatrical zeitgeist.

The program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council. The festival is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Piotr Sikora is a Polish-born comedian, clown, and actor. He is the creator of “Furiozo: Man Looking for Trouble”, an internationally acclaimed solo show that won the Besties Award at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe, the Best Show Award at Adelaide Fringe, and was named one of the Guardian’s Top 10 Comedy Shows of 2024. It was also nominated for the Comedians’ Choice Award in both 2023 and 2024.

A core figure in Poland’s comedy scene, Sikora co-founded Klancyk, the country’s oldest improv troupe, and collaborates with Klub Komediowy, Resort Komedii, and Hofesinka. Now based in London, he tours globally with “Furiozo”, performing in New York, Berlin, Paris, Mumbai, Taipei, Sydney, and beyond.

Sikora studied clown and physical theater extensively with Philippe Gaulier, Aitor Basauri, Paola Coletto, Matteo Destro, Mick Barnfather, Dr. Brown, and Angela de Castro. He also trained in improvisation and comedic acting at iO, the Groundlings, and the Annoyance Theatre in the U.S., and at institutions such as the Mask Movement Atelier and the School for Theater Creators.

He made his screen debut in “On Falling”, which earned Best Director at the San Sebastián International Film Festival and won the Sutherland Award at the BFI London Film Festival.

All of that being said, his greatest passion remains to stay under a warm blanket and play Nintendo Switch.
