“Working on this project was really exciting. Hearing about a country’s growth spurt was super inspiring and all of our contributors were so passionate about Poland. It was also another fantastic EMEA team effort – everyone really pulling together to get this campaign over the line.” — Naomi Taylor, Managing Editor, EMEA

“1366. This is Poland’s cumulative nominal GDP growth since 1990. The number speaks volumes about a remarkable economic journey over the past thirty-five years. It is an achievement few would have bet on when Poland embarked upon market reforms after the fall of communism. We are presenting you our story, through the experiences of companies that believed in our success. Tune in and see the future of business that thrives in Poland.” — Radoslaw Sikorski, Deputy Prime Minister, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

We are excited to announce the launch of a partnership between BBC Studios and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland. “Poland: Your Place to Grow” is a bold, multi-platform BBC campaign spotlighting Poland’s economic success story and showcasing why global businesses are choosing the country as a place to invest, expand, and thrive – drawn by a mixture of economic strength, skilled talent, and strategic location.

Film, Article and Audio

The BBC Studios team produced a branded series exploring Poland’s transformation into a European innovation powerhouse, creating 3 x hero films, 3 x articles and 3 x audio stories for each of the campaign’s three pillars: legacy, momentum and growth.

Legacy

Here we explore the rise of Poland as a European business innovation hub, hearing from Conor Pierce, former President of Samsung Electronics Polska, who moved from the UK to Poland 3 years ago, saying, “Poland is a unique market globally for Samsung… It’s the only place in Europe where we have three elements — R&D, manufacturing, and sales and operations — working together.”

Momentum

In this pillar we explore how Poland has become a fertile ground for European scaleups, hearing from Monika Król, Vice President of BLIK, about how Poland’s innovative economy and digitally advanced solutions create a strong business environment for tech solutions; BLIK, a digital payment platform created in Poland, has expanded beyond domestic borders into neighbouring markets, driven by innovation and a growing user base and is now used by around 20 million people every day, and we also hear from Marcin Piątkowski, professor of economics at Kozminski University, on how Poland has become a hub for innovation driven companies like BLIK to grow.

Growth

Here we discovered how start-ups can grow in Poland’s favorable business ecosystem, with Poland becoming a launchpad from which strong ideas, supported by technical skill, aspiration and a collaborative business culture, can grow to compete globally – reflected through the story of Brainly.
