Performance: My Ström – the immersive experience

At the crossroads of dance, installation, sound and music, liquid materials to taste, words and video, Les Passagées invite you on a sensory journey into the inner and outer whirlpools that dwell within and beyond us.
The immersive experience MY STRÖM takes its guiding thread from A Descent into the Maelström by Edgar Allan Poe—a dizzying plunge into the heart of a marine vortex, where the perception of time and space bends to the rhythm of the swirling waters. Like Poe’s narrator, we are drawn into the vertigo of the maelström, teetering between fear and fascination in the face of the power of the currents— between surrender and resistance, dissolution and emergence.

How do our own inner currents resonate with those of the world?
Where is the boundary between the intimate and the oceanic?

Come immerse yourself in this sensory journey, where art becomes a flow and the spectator a passenger, carried away by their own current.

Barbara Drazkov is a modern music pianist, prepared piano composer and performer based in Brussels. She composes and performs her own music for original prepared grand and upright pianos. Barbara Drazkov collects old pianos and gives them a new life by making them sound like many different instruments or electronic samples, mixing classical technique with experimental sound research. She took part in our first in-situ performance Inner Lands & Scapes in 2024 with three prepared pianos.

Les Passagées is a creative house based in Saint- Gilles (Brussels) that explores the infinite links between art, the body and what nourishes us – literally and figuratively. We express our research through live, multidisciplinary performances. Our immersive experiences, presented to the public, take place at the crossroads of the worlds of dance, music, visual arts, poetry and culinary arts.

ARTISTIC DIRECTION – Alexandra Swenden
After more than ten years in the Paris film industry, Alexandra Swenden dedicated herself, starting in 2012, to creating artistic and culinary experiences around the world. She has worked in New York, San Francisco (MoMA), São Paulo, London, Lima, and Cape Town, among other locations. In each of her projects, she brings together emerging figures from the international culinary scene to explore the intersection of art and food. In May 2024, she launched Les Passagées, an artistic project at the crossroads of performance, sensoriality, and transformation. Each creation becomes a sensory journey where the body is no longer a mere receptacle, but a shifting and porous landscape, permeated by the world.
