Brussels Short Film Festival is celebrating its 19th birthday this year. Between 27 April and 8 May, in different parts of the capital, no fewer than 300 films will be screened. The 25,000 cinema-goers who flock to the festival each year will have the opportunity to engage with the actors and directors in a lively and eclectic atmosphere. Two Polish films will be shown:
– Grandma’s Day by Miłosz Sakowski, selected in international competition and
To, czego chcę (What I want) from Damian Kocur will be in the competition ‘Next Generation’.

Grandma’s Day (2015, 30min, PL)
Grandma’s Day (Dzień babci) is the film which Miłosz Sakowski made at the end of his studies. The hero, Tomek, is trying to earn money by ripping off a little old lady. Whilst he is convinced that his plan is working a treat, the old lady suddenly realises what’s going on and locks him in her apartment. She takes charge and puts a new plan to him: he will pass himself off as her grandson, and that way she’ll be able to claim benefits from social services. It is vital that she gets her hands on this money: without it, she will be moved to an old people’s home…

To, czego chcę (What I want) is also a film made by a student. The viewer is introduced to two characters living in present-day Silesia: Ariel, twenty-five, divides his life between his passion for football and his dog. Karolina, a young single mother aged 20, dreams of a career as a cheerleader which would improve her life. They have nothing in common and yet their dreams can only come true if they join forces…..
