As part of the exhibition HomoMigratus, music department of the Cultural Service of the Province of Liège and the Museum of Walloon Life are playing host to the AMÔN QUARTET – whose members originate from various European countries – for a recital paying tribute to the works of two composers, who were amongst the best of their age, Mieczysław WEINBERG (1919-1996) and Joseph JONGEN (1873-1953). Even if the former, who was born in Warsaw, was for a time considered to be a niche composer, people have been examining his work from a different angle since the 1980’s, and it has integrated the repertoire of renowned artists and the programme of international concert halls. As for his Belgian colleague, there is no doubt that he belongs to the creme de la creme of Belgian composers.
This concert is part of the cycle of 8 concerts du dimanche within the festival Les Estivales whose programme you can consult HERE. Les Estivales are also hosting an interactive exhibition of Polish “mega toys”, which you can see HERE.
