Discover the work by Polish artist Piotr Rosiński in his solo exhibition Stigmata from April 17 until May 4, 2019 at the Huberty & Breyne Gallery in Brussels. The opening will be held on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 18:30.
About Stigmata
Alain Huberty and Marc Breyne invite you to discover the exhibition Stigmata with works by Piotr Rosiński from April 17 until May 4, 2019 at their gallery in Brussels. Each work is breathtaking, thought-provoking and offers a wide range of possible interpretations and appropriations to the spectator. Using acrylic paint, a vast palette of reds and whites are applied with knives, rollers, sticks… Piotr Rosiński starts with an intuitive sketch before letting his creativity run free on canvas. He covers the red with white and eventually draws on the vital energy associated with our body, with blood, by scratching the surface of his carnal works. These works, destined to be hung in spaces imbued with history, represent “a violent exit substitute for oneself“. According to the artist, “everyone has their issues, some of them decide to hide them, others express them. I try to confront everything head-on.” This series is the most personal one for the alumn of the La Cambre Academy of Brussels and the Academy of Fine Arts of Warsaw. He has been working on these canvasses for over ten years and this is the first time they will be unveiled at a gallery. Piotr adds: “I provoke myself constantly. It’s the essence of self-discovery. My work as a painter is a kind of meditation. To present my work at the Huberty & Breyne Gallery is another rewarding experience. We are always the mirrors of others.“
