About the Kathedraalfestival Brugge
The cathedral concerts in Bruges were founded in 1953 by canon Paul François as one of the first international organ series in Europe. Marcel Dupré, one of the most prominent organ prodigies of the 20th century, was one of the guests during the third edition of the cathedral concerts. Over the last 50 years, the tradition of inviting renowned soloists to the cathedral in Bruges has been maintained.
The cathedral concerts were successively organised by the ex-titulars Kamiel D’Hooghe and Roger Deruwe, as well as the current organist Ignace Michiels.
