Polish-American historian Patryk Czerwony will focus in his lecture on recalling the history, until 1945, of several communities in a shtetl in former Galicia. In his hometown, the author collected testimonies and photographs relating to the Christian and Jewish communities who coexisted there for many centuries, without merging. The German invasion of 1939 put an end to this long coexistence, exacerbated an old but controlled anti-Semitism, and revealed the heroic attitude of fellow citizens recognized as Righteous. The lecture will close with a musical performance by Ms. Simone Susskind.
