With his Stabat Mater, Karol Szymanowski joins a prestigious line of composers who have set the anonymous mediaeval text to music. Stabat Mater is supplemented with Szymanowski’s Fourth Symphony and two works: the Suita for string orchestra by Grażyna Bacewicz and Krzysztof Penderecki’s Ciaccone.
