Anima Festival: Polish animations in official selection and competitions
The Anima Festival, organized annually by ASBL Folioscope, is Belgium’s leading event dedicated exclusively to animation. Showcasing films created frame by frame – from traditional hand-drawn techniques to puppetry and digital creations – it features a diverse selection of works, ranging from short films and video clips to full-length features, for audiences of all ages. Recognized as one of Europe’s most important animation festivals, Anima is Oscar®-qualifying for Best Animated Short Film and celebrated for its warm atmosphere and unique traditions.

This year’s program includes 6 films created and co-created by Polish directors:
- Birds of Paradise by Tomek Ducki as part of the International Short Film Competition Animated Night
- The Crooked Heads by Jakub Krzyszpin as part of the International Short Film Competition Student Films
- Horde by Janina Księska as part of the New Talents Shorts (out of competition)
- Un Tocco Angelico by Nicole Golek as part of the Queer Shorts (out of competition)

The Girl Who Cried Pearls by Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski as a part of International Professional Short Film Competition (Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Short Film 2026)
- “Autokar” by Sylwia Szkiłądź as a part of National Short Film Competition
