Brussels Short Film Festival: Focus on Poland

Over the past 27 years, the Brussels Short Film Festival has met with undeniable success and has continued to develop into a major short film event, not only in Belgium but also internationally, both for the general public (over 22,000 spectators) and for professionals from all over the world (directors, producers, international short film buyers, distributors, festival organizers).Since 2018, the BSFF has been recognized by the Academy as a qualifying festival for the Oscars. This means that the winners of the Grand Prix of the International and National Competition are eligible for the Academy Awards®, which represents a real opportunity for films taking part in the competition.

This year, as Poland takes on the presidency of the Council of the European Union, the 28th edition of the Brussels Short Film Festival is shining a spotlight on Polish cinema. In partnership with the Warsaw and Łódź Film Schools, the festival has put together a special selection of films, which will be presented across three curated programs. One of these is dedicated entirely to works directed by women filmmakers. The program also includes conversations and meetings with Polish film professionals.
