Film: « L’Homme au crâne rasé » by André Delvaux at CINEMATEK

The Man Who Had His Hair Cut Short (1965), André Delvaux’s first feature film, inspired by the novel by Johan Daisne, is a classic of Flemish magical‑realist cinema. In 1964, André Delvaux directed the documentary series Polish Cinema for Belgian television. This nine‑episode series explores Polish cinema, with Andrzej Wajda as one of its central figures. It was during the filming that Delvaux met Beata Tyszkiewicz, one of the leading actresses in Wajda’s films, which led him to cast her in the main female role in The Man Who Had His Hair Cut Short, thus creating another bridge between Polish and Belgian cinema.
