FLB 2026: Andrzej Sapkowski – “The Witcher”

One of the most influential writers of contemporary fantasy, Andrzej Sapkowski, creator of the globally acclaimed Witcher saga, will be among the guests of the Brussels Book Fair 2026, invited by the Polish Institute in Brussels in collaboration with the Fair. On this occasion, the audience is invited to a special conversation with the author about his literary universe, his writing process and his latest novel, The Crossroads of Ravens.

About Andrzej Sapkowski

Andrzej Sapkowski is a Polish fantasy writer and trained economist who gained worldwide fame with The Witcher saga. His work follows the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a mutant monster hunter navigating a dark, medieval-inspired world where humans are often more cruel than the beasts he hunts.
The saga has been translated into numerous languages and inspired the globally successful video game series by CD Projekt Red as well as the Netflix television adaptation. His latest novel, The Crossroads of Ravens, was published in October 2025.

About Justine Breton

The conversation will be moderated by Justine Breton, a French scholar and author of The Witcher: The Chronicles of Ciri (Bragelonne, 2024). Her work offers an in-depth analysis of Ciri, one of the central characters of Sapkowski’s saga, exploring her narrative journey and symbolic importance within the Witcher universe.

The conversation

The discussion will explore several aspects of Andrzej Sapkowski’s work and creative process.
Particular attention will be given to his latest novel, The Crossroads of Ravens, which revisits the youth of Geralt of Rivia and expands the Witcher universe with a tone combining adventure, humour and elements of a coming-of-age story.

The conversation will also address the reception of the novel in Poland and internationally, as Sapkowski’s work continues to reach readers around the world through numerous translations. Justine Breton will invite the author to reflect on his writing process — his working habits, the development of his characters and plots, and the creative methods behind his storytelling. Finally, the discussion will look toward the future of Sapkowski’s work, exploring whether the author plans to further expand the Witcher universe or pursue new literary directions.
