A Sixties Sound Experience: Ligeti, Berio, Penderecki, Panufnik

The program for string orchestra and oboe solo proposed by the band STURM UND KLANG under the direction of Thomas VAN HAEPEREN focuses on composers of the ’60s who have become classics of contemporary music: Luciano Berio, György Ligeti and Krzysztof PENDERECKI. What do they have in common? Without hesitation: an exploratory imagination which searches for diffrent ways of sound creation. Half a century later, the expressive power of the music from the sixties still fascinates.
Other names such as: Andrzej PANUFNIK, composer and conductor of Polish-British orchestra present also in the 1960s or Rathé Filip, a contemporary Belgian composer, are to be discovered.
