European Jazz Unit 2016, with the participation of Piotr Damasiewicz – part of the Brussels Jazz Marathon

The European Jazz Unit is a jazz group created in 2013 by six musicians from six European countries at the literary festival L’Isola delle Storie in Gavoi in Sardinia (the Polish musician at the time was Maciej FORTUNA) which performed at the 2014 edition of the Brussels Jazz MarathonEUNIC Brussels decided to repeat the experience of a musical collaboration amongst European countries and entrusted the German cellist Robert LANDFERMANN with the task of artistic direction for this fascinating project. Landfermann has chosen, especially for the Brussels Jazz Marathon, seven original voices from contemporary European jazz, including Polish trumpeter Piotr DAMASIEWICZ, and has put together an ensemble which unites some of the best musicians from each of the countries concerned – Germany, Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Hungary, the Basque country and Poland.
In keeping with the tradition of the Brussels Jazz Marathon, concerts are free and accessible to all.
