Drummer Hubert ZEMLER is participating in the project TOKYO MAGNETIC

The ARS MUSICA Festival, founded in 1989, focuses on musical production. Made a biennial event in 2014, Ars Musica is now a firm fixture of the Brussels autumn programme.  The theme of this edition is ‘The Land of the Rising Sound’, an allusion to the fascination the west feels towards Japan. The superb festival poster was created by Polish graphic designer Michał BATORY.

Even if plenty of spots have been earmarked for Japanese artists this year (T. Takemistu, M. Ishii, D. Fujikura, K. Sakai, T. Sauvage, R. Kuroda), Europeans and Americans will still be out in force. The project TOKYO MAGNETIC, commissioned by Ars Musica, came about from a desire to build bridges between east and west. This global design event will take place on Monday 14 November at 20:00Tokyo Magnetic, directed by J.-L. Marchand, attempts to lend a visual and auditory image to the Japanese metropolis through the work of European artists. The project launched in Brussels, will then be shown in Asia and Japan. The clarinet/saxophonist duo Duadueduiduo (J.-L. Marchand/C. Rieger) will be accompanied by Belgian visual artist Stéphanie CROIBIEN and four European musicians:

  • Hubert ZEMLER (PL) – drums
  • Javier Moreno SANCHEZ (ES) – electric bass
  • Eve RISSER (FR) – keyboard
  • Luca NOSTRO (IT) – electric guitar
