Artist roundtable with Piotr TWARDOWSKI

Thursday september 21st, Polish artist and sculptor Piotr TWARDOWSKI will participate in a roundtable with some other artists, participating in the exhibition Dialogue With Emperor Qin. The artists, each from another country, will join together at this roundtable to discuss ideas of cultural identity, their creative process and stories about their participation in this globally touring exhibition.

The discussion event presents a unique opportunity for audiences to hear previously unheard stories and offers the artists a chance to reflect upon their involvement in this international project.

Piotr TWARDOWSKI
Born in Zamieście in 1972. He holds the Master of Fine Arts Diploma with distinction from the Department of Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Awarded a Scholarship of the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg (Germany) under the tutorship of Prof. Tim Scott. Since 2000, an academic at the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts, where he conducts sculpture workshops for first year students. Obtained a Phd. in Visual Arts in 2009, and completed a postgraduate Cultural Management at the Cultural Institute of the Jagiellonian University in Cracow in 2013.

His works have been exposed worldwide, among others in Hamburg, Monterrey, Ube (Japan), Cracow, Reims, etc. Also a laureate of several prestigious international sculpture competitions.



Dialogue With Emperor Qin
This unique exhibition, based on China’s world famous Terracotta warriors, features the work of 31 international artist, 3 from China and 28 from Europe, with each country of the European Union being represented by an artist. The exhibition was created in 2011 to build on existing Sino-EU cultural relations and to actively promote cultural dialogue within Europe and between Europe and China.

The exhibition will take place in The Atrium of the ULB Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management from september 21 until oktober 30 2017. The results have already been exhibited throughout China at eight museums and have toured to five museums in Europe. The exhibition finishes its world tour in December 2017 at The Port of Antwerp’s new “Diamond Ship” headquarters. The exhibition is included in the official programme of the 3rd edition of the China Arts Festival in the EU.



EUNIC Brussels

EUNIC, an abbreviation of ‘European Union National Institutes for Culture’, is a network of National Institutes for Culture from the Member States of the European Union, which aims to contribute to cultural diversity inside and outside of the EU and to strengthen cultural dialogue and exchange. EUNIC Brussels is part of a network of over 90 EUNIC clusters present on all continents.
