Krzysztof SIWCZYK is one of 7 poets invited to read their work at the seventh edition of the TRANSPOESIE festival on the evening of 9 November at the Balassi Institute, Brussels. The Polish poet will be accompanied by the Austrian Mieze MEDUZA, Oddfríður Marni RASMUSSEN, a poet from the Faroe Islands, the Hungarian Anna TERÉK, the Luxemburger Florent TONIELLO, Gerdur Kristný, who hails from Iceland, and Portuguese poet Maria DO ROSÁRIO PEDREIRA. The authors will read their poems in the original language, whilst translations in French, Dutch and English are projected onto the screen.

These two evenings are being organised by EUNIC Brussels, the European Union National Institutes for Culture.
Krzysztof Siwczyk was born in 1977. He studied Cultural Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice and lives in Gliwice. A poet, journalist and critic, he is the author of around ten collections of poetry and his work has been translated into several languages, notably into French, German, Bulgarian and Czech. His work has won several literary prizes, such as the Kościelski Foundation prize in 2014. Moreover, he also authored two books of literary criticism and television programmes about literature. He is also an actor and has appeared, inter alia, in Lech Majewski’s film on the suicidal poet Rafał Wojaczek (the film was nominated for a European Film Award in Paris in 2000). He is a member of the Association of Polish Writers and the Pen Club as well as the European Academy of Film and is Artistic Director of the Krakow Miłosz International Poetry Festival.
