Recital by the cellist Maciej KUŁAKOWSKI

Polish musician Maciej KUŁAKOWSKI, laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 2017 and the Witold Lutosławski Competition in Warsaw in 2015, is a student at the prestigious Kronberg Academy in Germany and the Gdańsk Academy of Music (the musician hails from Gdańsk). The winner of a “Talents for Europe” prize in 2006 aged just ten, he has studied in Poland and abroad, in particular at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Manheim.
In 2011, he was given the honour of playing in the opening concert for the Krzysztof Penderecki Europejan Centre for Music in Lusławice, Poland. Passionate about chamber music, he has played alongside great orchestras and internationally-renowned musicians such as Alfred Brendel, Arnold Steinhardt and Charles Neidich.

He plays a cello dating from 1867 which once belonged to Charles Gaillard and was generously loaned by the foundation Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben.
