Leonardo 4 Children – concert to mark the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci’s birth and the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
This event, organised at the initiative of the Carano 4 Children Foundation to support the scientific and artistic development of children and young people, will take place around Leonardo da Vinci’s Fables.
The prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the European Leonardo 4 Children European drawing and music composition competitions for young people will be followed by a concert. As part of the program: music with the “viola organista“, the instrument invented by Leonardo da Vinci and made in 2013 by Sławomir Zubrzycki, a pianist, music professor at the University of Jagiellona and Cracow instrument maker.
Leonardo 4 Children’ concert is a perfect opportunity to recall that 30 years ago, on 20 November 1989, the Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, with the aim of recognising and protecting the specific rights of children. Poland played a leading role in its adoption; the current text of the Convention was drafted at its initiative on the basis of the ideas of the Polish paediatrician, Dr. Janusz Korczak.
