Joteyka Award Ceremony and film screening of “Siłaczki”

"Siłaczki" directed by Marta Dzido and Piotr Śliwowski

In the frame work of the Joteyka Award Ceremony, the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Brussels, ASBL BEKAP in Brussels, ASBL Daskalia in Leuven and the Polish Institute in Brussels join forces in order to present the film “Siłaczki” directed by Marta Dzido and Piotr Śliwowski.

This 4th edition of the Polish Women’s Award of Excellence in Belgium – Joteyka is organised under the high patronage of His Excellency Ambassador Artur Orzechowski.

Synopsis

 “Siłaczki” portrays the lives of several Polish activists from cities like Poznań, Warsaw, Lublin and Cracow. This fictionalized documentary shows their efforts, obstinacy and consistency in their struggle for access to education and the work sphere, engagement in the independence movement and dedication to the ideas of freedom and emancipation, which led Józef Piłsudski, the Chief of State, to signing the decree on women’s voting rights on November 28th 1918.
