Masterpieces of Polish painting, sculpture and graphics, ancient wall paintings from Faras discovered by Polish archaeologists, medieval and contemporary art – all this can be seen without leaving home in the new portal of the National Museum in Warsaw, which was launched in mid-October 2020.
“The Digital National Museum in Warsaw presents as many as 60 thousand museum objects out of over 800 thousand in the Museum’s collection. – Thanks to the digitisation of the collection, everyone has access on a computer or phone to extraordinary works of art, including those which are regularly kept in storage because of limited exhibition space or the sensitivity of the material,” — says Karolina Tabak, Head of the Digitisation and Visual Documentation Department of the National Museum in Warsaw.
Thanks to the new Digital MNW portal, everyone, regardless of where they live, can go on a virtual tour of the Polish National Museum in Warsaw. The service is personalized. The user can browse through the collections on a timeline or choose specific masterpieces, and save the history of their search on their profile in the portal. – Objects of particular interest can be found in the masterpieces section.
